Use the Pet Birth/Gotcha Month Automation to recognize these meaningful milestones. You can keep it simple with a heartfelt message—or go the extra mile by adding a special gift just for the occasion.
During the Beta period, MY PROMOTIONS don't work with Automated Campaigns.
This is because restricted My Promotions (those limited to a specific Recipient List) must be manually updated. You have to refresh the list and create a new promotion each month. Because of this, we don’t recommend using My Promotions in Pet Birthmonth Automations right now. We will be updating My Promotions to make them compatible.
However, you can still share details of other birthday giveaways or specials that can be successfully managed outside of Astro.
✨ New Mail Merge Placeholder: [PETNAME]
You can now add an extra touch of personalization to your Pet Birth Month Automation by including the pet's name in your message!
When editing your email template, click the text to open the text editor. Click the Pet Name button to insert the [PETNAME] mail merge placeholder into your message. When the automation sends, [PETNAME] will be automatically replaced with the name of the pet celebrating a birthday that month.
Important Notes:
- This placeholder only works with the Pet Birth Month Automation. It is not compatible with any other automated campaign or multimedia template campaign.
- If a customer has multiple pets with the same birth month, they will receive one email per pet.
Example:
Sally Pet Owner has two pets in Astro:
- Oliver, born August 2019
- Maggie, born August 2021
In August, Sally will receive two birthday emails—one for Oliver and one for Maggie—each personalized with their respective names.
