1. What are Astro Coupons?
Astro Coupons are exclusive digital discounts offered by brands to their established customers through the Astro platform. These coupons are automatically linked to the customer’s Astro Pet Owner account and can, therefore, only be redeemed at your store. Brands use Astro Coupons to reward, re-engage, and secure customers by offering targeted discounts based on specific purchase behaviors of that brand’s products within Astro.
2. Can a brand issue coupons to any customer?
No, brands can only send Astro Coupons to customers who have engaged with their Frequent Buyer Programs, Astro Offers, or Adoption Rewards Programs. These coupons are targeted based on customer activity and loyalty.
3. Can Astro Coupons be redeemed anywhere?
No. Since Astro Coupons are digitally linked to Astro Pet Owner Accounts, and an Astro Pet Owner Account can only be associated with one Astro Retailer Account, your list of qualifying customers can only redeem their issued coupons at your store/s.
*If you have more than one location on your Astro Retailer Account, your qualifying customers can redeem their coupon at any one of your locations.
4. Who sends the coupon emails to customers?
Astro Coupon notifications are sent via email from the Astro platform. The email is sent directly to your customers who qualify for the coupon based on their purchase history with the brand. You don’t need to worry about distributing the coupons; Astro handles all the communication.
5. What does the coupon email look like?
The email contains a message from the brand, details about the coupon, including the discount or reward offered, and instructions on how to redeem it. The coupon is pet-owner specific and will only apply to the eligible customer.
6. What if I have customers on the eligible list that are missing email addresses?
All customers on your eligible list will be issued a coupon via their Pet Owner Account. Their coupon will become tethered to their Pet Owner Account, making it visible and redeemable via Astro Checkout.
7. Can I see the customers before I opt-in?
Yes! Before deciding to opt-in to a coupon, you can export a list of customers who are eligible for the promotion. This gives you the chance to review which customers qualify based on their purchase history. You can also periodically export that same list to check who has redeemed their coupon and who hasn’t.
8. Do I have to participate in Astro Coupons?
No, participation is optional. You can opt in to participate in specific campaigns so your customers reap the rewards. But, if you decide not to, you can opt out, ensuring your customers will not be alerted to the coupon. You can change your mind as long as it is before the launch date. If you do not make a decision before the coupon launch date, your store will be automatically opted out. Once the coupon launches, you cannot alter your participation status.
9. How long will the coupon be valid?
Astro Coupons have set start and expiration dates determined by the brand. Once a coupon is issued, it will be valid for a limited time, typically 30 days. The exact dates will be specified in the email sent to the customer and in the coupon details.
10. How do I redeem an Astro Coupon?
When you look up an eligible Pet Owner Account, a preview of their coupon will appear at the top of their checkout page. Once they add an eligible item to their cart, the “Redeem” button will become active. Simply click "Redeem" to apply the coupon at checkout. No scanning or tracking of paper coupons is necessary.
11. Who writes the credit for redeemed coupons?
Astro will reference the distributor you chose to fulfill a brand’s Astro Frequent Buyer program, and that brand’s coupon redemptions and credits will be processed through that existing partnership. You have the option to edit the Distributor on the coupon if needed.
On multi-location Astro Accounts, each individual location will have their coupon enrollments default report to each store's chosen fulfillment partner for that brand's Astro Frequent Buyer Program. Each location has the capacity to adjust their coupon enrollment to work with their own chosen fulfillment partner.
Depending on the coupon type (free good reward or rebate reward), the credits for your redeemed coupons will appear on either your Distributor Rebate Credit Batches Report or Distributor Free Goods Credit Batches Report.
12. Do I need to enroll in anything to participate in Astro Coupons?
No enrollment is required to participate in Astro Coupons, but you will need to opt-in if you wish to participate in specific campaigns. Additionally, the fulfillment partner of your coupon will correspond with the fulfillment partner you selected on that brand’s Frequent Buyer Program.
13. Can I choose whether my store will opt-in or out of certain coupons?
Yes, you can opt-in or opt-out of specific coupons, but you have a timeframe in which to do so. If you wish to opt-in, you will need to do so before the coupon is launched. If you don’t opt-in in time, your store will automatically be excluded from the coupon campaign. Once a coupon has launched, you cannot change your participation status.
14. How do multi-location Astro accounts opt-in to coupons? Do all of my locations have to opt in?
For multi-location Astro accounts, only the parent location needs to opt-in to the coupon campaign. Once the parent account opts-in, all sub-locations will automatically be opted-in—it's an all-or-nothing setup. Each location has the capacity to adjust their coupon enrollment to work with their own chosen fulfillment partner.
15. Can I track the status of the coupon and its redemptions?
Yes! You can track redemptions and see which customers have claimed their coupons and who haven’t. The coupon status will show you how many coupons have been redeemed, how many are pending, and how many have expired.
You can promote Astro Coupons by encouraging customers to download the Astro Mobile App, where they can view and track their coupons. You can also use pending coupon reminders via the Astro Marketing Suite to remind customers to come by who have not redeemed their coupon yet. In-store, you can display QR codes that lead customers to the app or provide signage with information about Astro Coupons in general- but never display details of specific coupons since not all of your customers qualify.
